     Aishwarya took me to her dedicated make-up studio. She started with an agreement that, I should be fully cooperating during this time and no objections. I also cleared that it’s just a trial like any other movie and until I’m fully satisfied, I’ll not be agreeing to do this movie.

While Aishwarya was preparing everything for my make-up session, the doubt was still lingering in my mind. “Aishwarya tell me something, do you think really it will work if I act as a transgender or female? You know I’m a big fitness freak and I have huge fan following for my strong and manly look. I am still thinking how will it be possible”.

I don’t want to answer that now and I will let my work do the talking. Let me first start with shaving your body and facial hairs. I don’t want hair anywhere except your head and eyebrows.

     I was about to open my mouth for objecting and Aishwarya shut it immediately and reminded me of our agreement.

     Furthermore, I sighed and let her to do the job. To make sure I don’t get bored during the process, Aishwarya kept explaining what she is doing, and I could feel a lot of excitement in her voice. In the next half an hour, she shaved my entire body hairs and also my beard, moustache and side burns. After completion, she let me have a bath and then applied somebody lotion all over my body to make it soft and smooth.

     Being an actor, make-up and cosmetic products are nothing new to me. But this time it’s slightly different as Aishwarya is more careful in transforming my face to look more realistic as a female. She prepped my face using primer and then to my eyes and lipstick to make my face smoother and ready for the make-up.

     Despite shaving twice, I still had traces of hair in my moustache and beard area, She applied orange colour correcting concealer to hide the small hair marks.

     She then applied a matching foundation in my face, neck and ears to even out my skin tone and my face now looked flawless. After applying the setting powder, she used contour to sculpt my face. She took more time in shaping my cheekbones and jawline and also made sure my nose appears slim so that my face look more feminine. Finally, the blush to make my cheeks make it look cute and feminine.

     She shifted her focus to my eyes, at first she trimmed the eyebrows and drew thin feminine eyebrows using eyebrow pencil. She used mascara to make my eyelashes look longer and darker. Finally, using an eyeliner she shaped my eyes perfectly.

     Though it was as a lengthy process, slowly I became curious on how the end result will be. She applied a simple pink lipstick on my lips to finally finish her make-up.

     The next part is the dressing. It was very shy and thrilling feeling to dress as a lady in front of my wife. She went to her room and returned with a nice bright yellow kurta suit along with a bra and panties. I was too hesitant on wearing a bra and panties she pushed me to wear them.

     The feeling of wearing a silky soft satin panty is at a different level, and it was comfortably fitting me. My rosy cheeks become even more red with the shyness of wearing panties in front of my own wife. She also made me wear a padded bra which again nicely fitted on me also gave a decently sized bust and cleavage which doesn’t appear slutty or awkward.

     Lastly, I wore the yellow tops and matching bottoms and Aishwarya pinned the transparent shawl to flow from one side. She selected a matching clip on dangling ear rings and finally she asked to wear a simple 3-inch heels. Finally, she put on a nice wig with long hairs that touched mid of my back to finish my make-up transformation to a young female.

Ranjith’s feminine look

     I was very hesitant at first and highly disliked the idea of being dressed as a female, but I must admit that when Aishwarya went further with every step of the process, I started to relax and even started to enjoy. I felt it was very therapeutic when she applied the make-up with her soft hands and the nice aroma of the make-up products made me enjoy the whole session.

Finally Aishwarya took me to a full length mirror in her make-up studio and let me admire my own feminine look.

     It is an understatement to say that Aishwarya transformed me into a most beautiful woman. More than looking pretty, I looked so real and it will make anyone to fall in love at the very first sight. I also started to admire how artistically Aishwarya transformed a muscular man into a cute lovely female in her 20s. To complement my beautified face, that yellow dress added an additional glow and brightness to my soft skin.

While I was admiring my own beauty without saying a word, Aishwarya hugged me from back and asked, “Are you convinced now? Do you see any traces of Ranjith now. You just look like your mom, or if you have had a sister she would have looked exactly the same. Now be true to yourself and say are you ready to do my script”.

     I got into a huge dilemma now. Though I look convincing as a female, I’m still not sure if an top Star like me should take a huge risk and act as a transgender. I can’t back off now as it will again cause problems with Aishwarya. On the other hand, If the film fails then my entire acting career will be in danger. All these thoughts were running in my mind while I was staring at my feminine reflection in the mirror. The more I see myself as a beautiful young women, I was getting convinced and hoping everything will be fine and I was moving towards acceptance.

I turned back and hugged her gently resting my face on her shoulders and closed my eyes. Don’t know if this look and dress is making me shy or I am in a different world, I was just smiling to myself. I just kissed her cheeks and said, “I have full belief now, that I will do justice the role and also confident in you and you will give a big hit. Let’s do this Honey!!”.

Aishwarya jumped and loudly cheered with joy and kissed me saying, “I know you will definitely accept. I still remember in one of the films we acted together, there was a small scene where you had to dress as a woman. You looked really pretty as a woman that time. A beautiful woman was hiding inside this muscular woman. After all you were once a chocolate boy in this industry and had a lot of female fans”.

Fantastic!! Now that you have finally accepted. Let’s quickly move for further steps. I will talk to pappa today itself and arrange the finance. From now on you are committed to this project for 6 months. I will need one month to discuss and finalize the script, and the crew and you will need to prepared during that month for you role.

Coming to the important point, I have few rules for you to follow until the end of this project for you to be successful in this role. I want your 100% commitment in following these rules, okay? Aishwarya continued without giving any break.

• Rule No 01 : Your character starts as a teenager, a young transgender and middle-aged woman. I want you to look like a young woman and not a rough masculine guy. So, until the project completes I need you to stop all these body building workouts and building muscles. Instead, I will ask my personal trainer Shilpa to be your trainer during this project. She will guide you in maintaining fitness while having a more toned body like a female. I will ask her to suggest you some exercises that naturally shape around your hip and waist and also tone your butt and bust areas.
• She will also manage your diet, so you eat the foods rich in Estrogen which will help you in naturally getting a feminine look.
• Rule No 02 : I will appoint one acting consultant for who will teach you how to behave and act femininely starting from your gestures, the way you walk, the way you sit and speech she will make you feminine. You have to forget the manly gestures and become more fluid like a woman. It will be hard, but you need to put those efforts to pass like a woman.
• Rule No 03 : It is highly important that until the completion of this project, you need to only wear women’s dresses all the time, including all accessories and also women’s lingerie. You have to be very comfortable and carry them nicely before we start the shoot. You can’t just wear a saree or salwar and act right away, it will turn very cringy. It needs a lot of practice, and you need to get used to it.
• Lastly, I will share videos about transgenders and their life. Observe their mannerism, put yourself in their shoes and empathize for themselves. Apart from physical changes you need to be prepared mentally as well.

Though preparing for a role is not something new to me as an Actor, I was really uncomfortable with the third rule which needed me to dress all day as a female. I immediately raised my objection. “Aishwarya, I am a top star you just can’t expect me to wear a women’s dress all day and roam around the house. We have so many house help and how will I face them. What if someone leaks this outside. It’ll really cause damage to my reputation, and I’m not doing it.” I was so strong in my opinion.

Ranjith, I’m not speaking as a wife here, but demanding as a director I want you to be more prepared and more comfortable in behaving as a female. It won’t just happen in just one day. If you don’t want to do what I say, ready to get embarrassed in front of the crew and technicians if you take too much takes for every scene.

     In my ten years of marriage, one thing I know is that I can’t argue with Aishwarya beyond a certain level. So I just stood silent decided to go with the flow and see where it takes me and praying my Gods to save me.
